What is Reflexology?
by Terry Carine, Certified Foot Reflexologist,Ingham Method
The feet are seen as mirrors of the whole body. The organs, glands and various parts of the physical structure are laid out in a pattern similar to the body. These reflexes are like energetic pathways. Reflexology unblocks the pathways in our feet and allows energy to flow freely. “Circulation is life; stagnation is death.”
The aim of Reflexology is to correct the three negative factors involved in the disease process; congestion, inflammation and tension (the #1 cause of early aging.) Congested conditions are responsible for bringing about growths; inflammatory conditions are those such as colitis, bronchitis, or sinusitis; and tension is responsible for lowering the efficiency of the immune system. Reflexology sessions are primarily intended to improve the body’s circulation and to assist the body in speeding up elimination of waste products, so that toxins do not have a chance to build up harmful levels in the liver, kidneys or bowel. Reflexology can also help to control the perception of pain by stimulating the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers – from the pituitary gland in the bloodstream.
Reflexology does not diagnose or treat any particular condition. Its main function is to balance all the systems so they can perform efficiently, thus alleviating problems throughout the body.
What a client will notice after a session is that they will be relaxed with a sense of well being, but a lot more has been accomplished during the process. Regular sessions will foster longer lasting results between appointments.
There are no contraindications with Reflexology it is beneficial for everyone regardless of age.
Please feel encouraged to contact me with any questions.
